Cats-world is an informative website that helps to keep information on cat’s simple and straight forward, which is something that is very important especially for new cat owners. With all of the information you can find today on the internet on just about anything, you can sometimes get completely overwhelmed with all of this information, but cats-world is a great site that keeps everything very simple and easy to read.
They cover many topics on the care of your cat and one of the topics covered is training for your cat. You might be wondering how you could possibly train a cat. A popular misconception is that, most people think cats are self-sustainable, often territorial, anti-social and un-trainable animals. While some of that might ring true for some cats, one thing that is never true is the fact that a cat is un-trainable.
It has to be said that the funny part about training your feline, is that often after you have trained them on certain ways you expect them to behave and set boundaries for them, you will notice that they do have a tendency to have their own set of expectations and boundaries of you as well. Which is a very unique personality trait amongst almost all felines, even if you think you have your cat figured out, chances are, you do not at least not fully.
The people at cats-world know this and they are also empathetic to some of the instances that can arise while you are trying to train your cat. It is true enough that, while cats are very independent, they also need a certain amount of authority by the owner and the people at cats-world, are also aware of this and can lend excellent advice when it comes to just about any aspect of training your cat.

Yes, you actually can train a cat! As expected, it is definitely a bit different than training a dog, but you can get similar results. If you enjoy cats like I do, you realize that cats have their own personalities, quite different than dogs. You understand you can’t walk them on a leash, etc., but you can get your cat to do some really good things, like consistently use the cat litter box.
A thing you certainly can do with a bit of patience, consistency, and “cat psychology” is encourage or stop certain behaviors. By praising your cat (and some gentle correction), you can keep your cat from using your nice furniture as a scratching post. You’ll simply need to put some thought into how cats process information and respond.
Cats cannot speak, read or gain knowledge from the same lessons from which we learn. If a cat does something and receives a reward or praise, they may repeat it. If they do something that makes for an unpleasant reprimand, chances are they will avoid it at some point. It may not happen the first time they are scoldedbut they will learn. If you generously reward your cat for positive behavior, the chances are good that the positive behavior will continue. If you discipline for negative behavior, he will avoid that one behavior.
Everyone makes mistakes. Perhaps your cat assaults you at an early hour on your day off. Lots of meows and cuddles accompanied by a purr or two, and you are off the bed giving him food and playing. Your cat has you conditioned to respond. Your cat has learned ways to get what he wants, at your expense. A cat is going to do anything that you may permit him to do. Since a cat is nocturnal, his hours and yours are subject to be different. Training your cat to respect your wishes will demand your altering your behavior as well.
So don’t reward your cat with food or activity when it tries to wake you up. If you possibly could play with your cat later each morning, disregard the cat’s efforts to disturb your sleeping time. Also, do not let your bedroom to be your cat’s playground. Surely you want to be responsive to your feline’s needs, but you can’t allow yourself to become its slave!
If you catch the cat sleeping throughout the day, wake him up and play for a while. This helps get his clock on your schedule. It will probably take about two weeks to achieve the total change, but it can happen. Do not give in to the demands. If you do give in, you will have to go back to square one again.
If things don’t progress as you like, and your cat continues to pounce on you at 4am, keep a water gun at your bedside. Each and every time your cat disturbs your sleep, give him a squirt. It does not take long for your cat to discover the message. It will likewise help to close the bedroom door. If the cat is meowing outside the door, you could crack the door open and squirt there as well.
